5100 Comm Error Troubleshooting
What they mean & What to do
Ingenico terminals are notorious for not cooperating with digital phone lines.
(verizon fios, at&t, comcast etc)
FIRST - make 100% sure that the phone line that the merchant has the terminal plugged into is COMPLETELY operational.
just because the line they called in on works, does NOT mean that the line the terminal is on is functional
If you encounter problems processing transactions with them here are a few steps to try :
Verify if the merchant needs a PABX number. (dial 9 to get out)
Change baud rate to 2400.
Turn pre-dial ON
If still unsuccessful, send a DSL Filter and check if IP is an option
In the terminal
If the merchant informs you they have a PABX code, this follow these steps to enable it in the terminal :
1. Press the admin key.
2. Press the 3 key for setup menu
3. Press the 1 key for quick setup
4. Press the F3 key for next six times
5. The screen should now display acces #=
6. Press the F2 key for edit, now type in the PABX code and press the green key to save
To change the BAUD rate follow these steps :
1. Press the admin key
2. Press the 3 key for setup menu
3. Press the 2 key for comms
4. Press the F2 key for edit and then use the F1 key to highlight the baud rate you desire, when highlighted press the green key to save
To Turn pre-dial ON follow these steps :
1. Press the admin key
2. Press the 3 key for setup menu
3. Press the 2 key for comms
4. Press the F3 key for next two times, Pre Dial= should be displayed on the screen
5. Press the F2 key for edit, use the F key below either option to choose which you would like
